Who are we?
Created in January 2006, the association “Acces Universel” intends to spread and promote by all existing means the practice of accessibility for everybody in all the domains of social life: working areas, buildings, environment, transportation, cultural and leisure activities, education and training, employment, health and any necessary infrastructure and services intended to facilitate accessibility to public and private areas.
The “Acces Universel” association places its actions within the framework of the Law of 11th February 2005 for equal rights and opportunities, integration and citizenship of disabled people. Furthermore, “Acces Universel” is supporting the legitimate idea (thought) that our society at large has to be accessible to all from living spaces to services.
- “Acces Universel” has the following objectives:
- To increase significantly awareness of and sensitivity to universal accessibility among citizens, public and private authorities, representative bodies and institutions at the national and international level;
- To modify the public perception of accessibility, proving it represents progress for all;
- To make accessibility a development vector for all.
We all know that the trail is difficult, before accessibility becomes a Freedom road for All.
“One European in 10 is disabled (it means around 40 million people). In the matter of accessibility, the concerned population represents significantly more than the above figure”.
